Samsung Electronics said on Monday that South Korea’s Samsung SDI and Germany’s Robert Bosch joint venture recently won a contract for the upcoming Chrysler electric car Fiat 500EV, to provide lithium-ion batteries.
Samsung added that the Fiat 500 electric car, electric versions of the Fiat 500 model in 2012 in the U.S. market. Fiat in Italy under the management of Chrysler last year, the U.S. government control out of bankruptcy.
The 50-50 joint venture is to BMW in Germany and the U.S. auto parts maker Delphi to provide lithium-ion batteries. Samsung did not provide further details on terms of the contract.
